Updated: Sep 16, 2020

Cardi B has filed for a divorce from her husband Offset after three years of marriage.

Cardi, born Belcalis Almanzar, filed paperwork in Fulton County court today against the Migos member, whose real name is Kiari Cephus. Cardi is listed as the plaintiff while Offset named as the defendant.

Cardi B's divorce filing includes a summons to Offset which must be answered within 30 days (November 4th,2020 at 10am) of the day the complaint was initially filed. If he fails to do so, judgment will be taken against the rapper for the relief demanded in the filing.

She explained in her Vogue January 2020 cover story why she stayed with Offset despite numerous cheating scandals and fans' criticisms about her decision.

“When me and my husband got into our issues, you know, he cheated and everything, and I decided to stay with him and work together with him, a lot of people were so mad at me; a lot of women felt disappointed in me," she explained. "But it’s real-life sh--. If you love somebody and you stop being with them, and you’re depressed and social media is telling you not to talk to that person because he cheated, you’re not really happy on the inside until you have the conversation. Then, if you get back with them, it’s like, how could you? You let all of us down. People that be in marriages for years, when they say till death do us part, they not talking about little arguments like if you leave the fridge open. That’s including everything.”

The couple reconciled every time they had issues because of their Daughter, Kulture Kiari Cephus but according to Cardi's recent divorce filing "there are no prospects for a reconciliation" this time around as the marriage is "irretrievably broken” .
